Imperial Global India* will act as a catalyst to drive high-impact science and technology research partnerships across research, education and innovation to address shared challenges. It will serve as a two-way communication channel to nurture a two-way flow of STEMB talent between the UK and India, and support Imperial’s growing Indian alumni network.
* Pending the completion of regulatory formalities to be able to set up Imperial’s own liaison office, Imperial Global India will initially be managed by OneStep Global, as the service provider duly appointed by Imperial College London.
The Role:
The Senior Partnerships Advisor (Imperial Global India) will support the growth of high impact science, technology and education partnerships and networks in India for Imperial.
The postholder will work closely with academic and professional service colleagues to develop and deliver the key activities for Imperial Global India, and provide auxiliary support for the set-up of the forthcoming Imperial Global India liaison office in Bengaluru.
Preferred applicants will have experience in co-developing equitable science and technology partnerships, engaging in a diverse range of stakeholders, building networks, and running high profile events and visits. The role will be based in Bengaluru and will require domestic travel within India and occasional international travel, including to the UK to work with university colleagues.
Imperial Global India will also play a key role in Imperial’s objective to widely disseminate information about Imperial and its diverse community of students. The postholder will also work collaboratively with the Marketing and Recruitment Officers based in Delhi where relevant.
Key responsibilities:
Develop science and technology networks (60%)
  • Build science and technology networks in a concerted and strategic way, following the strategy laid down by Imperial, including communications, outreach and initiatives that build the profile of Imperial as a convenor and collaborator of choice for high impact STEM partnerships and talent.
  • Design and deliver a dynamic programme of science and technology-focused events across India, showcasing research leadership, innovative start-up founders and accomplished alumni. This programme will be a key part of the University’s strategy to build networks in key strategic areas for UK-India science collaboration, including areas within health, environment and emerging technologies, ensuring that these events drive meaningful partnerships and advance shared priorities in these critical fields.
  • Coordinate and host high level visits from Imperial academics and leadership to connect with industry, tech communities and academic partners across diverse disciplines.
  • Collaborate with the advancement division to engage with alumni working in key science and technology sectors to support the University Strategy (Science for Humanity), leverage areas and connections for collaboration and build a sense of community, including networking receptions and events; support the convening of an advisory council for Imperial Global India; leverage alumni connections for collaboration and to advance the university’s mission to establish and nurture relationships with potential donors, foundations and philanthropists.
  • Work with the Enterprise division to position Imperial and its West Tech Corridor as a leading global ecosystem for industry, translation, and commercialisation partnerships. Develop enterprise networks that link to India’s rise as a global leader, poised for exponential growth in the digital era, while strengthening the UK-India partnership in innovation and entrepreneurship.
Partnership Support (30%)
  • Provide auxiliary support to Imperial with the set-up of the proposed liaison office in India.
  • Communicate relevant information to and work with the International Relations Office to identify emerging opportunities for research, innovation and education partnerships, including horizon scanning the research funding environment.
  • Provide the necessary information and make the necessary introductions to support key research development teams and the IRO on strategies to cultivate a pipeline of academic-led proposals for ambitious research centers, industry research centers, and joint programmes with links to partners/ funders in the region.
  • Act as a key contact and front door for the Imperial’s partners in India.
  • Effectively promote college’s interests externally, including with the British High Commission in India, UKRI India, the British Council, industry stakeholders etc.
  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with internal stakeholders, including Professional Services Directorates and the Imperial Academic Community.
  • Attend relevant networking events and meetings, building an extensive science and technology network.
  • Communicate relevant information to and work with the Enterprise Division and International Relations Office to support mapping of industry engagement and opportunities in key sectors (e.g., hydrogen, biotechnology and advanced manufacturing).
Secondary roles and responsibilities (10%)
  • Provide logistical support for any in-country events hosted by Imperial.
  • Work closely with the Marketing, Recruitment and Admissions team to ensure joined up approach to events, campaigns and programmes.
  • Support the Communications Division and the Stakeholder Engagement Manager in the International Relations Office, acting in accordance with a communications and engagement strategy

Reporting

The position will be reporting to the Director, International Relations Office for Imperial College London. The position will be actively supported by the University Strategic Engagement Division and the International Relations Office (IRO) at Imperial. The IRO is a central unit responsible for supporting the development and delivery of cross-faculty academic-led international engagement with university partners and overseas governments.
